Lay off 200 people or hike taxes?
According to MediaTrackers, that's the choice Luzerne County Council had to make when unionized employees rejected a proposal to bring employees under one insurance provider, increase co-payments, and add a $500 hospital stay deductible to their plans.

It's wonderful that the issues surrounding government spending are finally being fully examined. The newspapers, largely staffed by union members, have a soft spot for their union brothers and sisters and it shows in their reporting. You just don't see stories like the one linked above in the mainstream media.
Hopefully, honest discourse about how taxpayer funds are spent will follow.
