According to the new Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers, national unemployment has risen to a shocking 10.2%. This is the highest rate seen in the US since 1983 and a 3% increase since President Obama took office (Dec of 2008 was 7.2%). Preliminary numbers for Pennsylvania show an 8.8% unemployment rate, a 2.4% increase since President Obama took office (Dec of 2008 was 6.4%). Further parsing the data to just the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area shows a preliminary unemployment figure of 8.8% which is 1.4% higher than when President Obama took office (Dec of 2008 was 7.4%).
These numbers directly refute the claim of “creating or saving 3,000,000 jobs” as promised with the stimulus plan a.k.a. Crap Sandwich passed by the Democratic Congress.
