Democrats More Afraid of Gerlach than Corbett?

The Patriot News ran a story covering the 2010 Gubernatorial Elections. In the story, Democrat State Committee Chairman Rooney said that he is more afraid of running against Jim Gerlach than Tom Corbett. Rooney points to Gerlach’s voting history, tough elections, and experience making him more formidable.

It is disingenuous to think that Rooney would offer legitimate advice to the Republican Party as to who they can best challenge the Democratic Party with. None the less, it is an interesting choice of words on the part of the Democratic Chairman. The story can be found here.

Should Congress have the same healthcare that you do?

Louisiana Congressman John Flemming has proposed a bill forcing all of Congress and their staff to accept the same healthcare that the least of us would have to accept. In the current legislation, Congress (surprise!) has exempted themselves.

Flemming has a website where he is accepting votes from the general public as to whether they should or should not have be exempt from the healthcare bill. We encourage you to vote HERE.

Carney on Crap Sandwich

It has been rumored recently that there might be a third Crap Sandwich to be fed to every taxpayer (and future taxpayer) by Congress and the Obama Administration. Yes, a third stimulus bill. In the video below, Democrat Congressman Chris Carney claims the success of the crap sandwich in saving or creating 2,500 jobs in PA-10 alone. He also bemoans that not enough money was put into transportation and infrastructure. Get ready for the next bailout bill.

Unemployment Continues to Rise

According to the new Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers, national unemployment has risen to a shocking 10.2%. This is the highest rate seen in the US since 1983 and a 3% increase since President Obama took office (Dec of 2008 was 7.2%). Preliminary numbers for Pennsylvania show an 8.8% unemployment rate, a 2.4% increase since President Obama took office (Dec of 2008 was 6.4%). Further parsing the data to just the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area shows a preliminary unemployment figure of 8.8% which is 1.4% higher than when President Obama took office (Dec of 2008 was 7.4%).

These numbers directly refute the claim of “creating or saving 3,000,000 jobs” as promised with the stimulus plan a.k.a. Crap Sandwich passed by the Democratic Congress.

Democrat Healthcare Bill Passed

Late last night, House Democrats narrowly passed their comprehensive healthcare reform bill putting healthcare (1/6th of the US economy) firmly in the control of the government. The 220-215 vote had the defection of 39 Democrats along all but one Republican in the House. The vote comes on the heels of voting down a Republican-authored reform bill by a vote of 258-176. Every single Democrat voted against the Republican bill.

Of those Democrats in districts won by John McCain in 2008, 18 voted against the bill. Of those Democrats in districts barely won by Barack Obama in 2008, 8 voted against the bill.

The Pennsylvania Democrats who voted for the bill were: Brady, Carney, Dahlkemper, Doyle, Fattah, Kanjorski, Patrick, Murtha, Schwartz, and Sestak. All others voted against it with the exception of Murphy, he must have voted “Present” instead of voting at all unless there is a typo in the roll call results.

Some differences in the legislation:

The Democrat bill was 2,032 pages and CBO estimates place its cost at around $3 trillion over ten years. The Republican bill was 219 pages and had an estimated cost of $61 billion.

The Democrat bill requires all citizens to purchase health insurance or face criminal/civil penalties. The Republican bill did not.

The Democrat bill prevents insurance companies from denying covering for “pre-existing conditions.” The Republican bill did not.

The Democrat bill makes massive cuts ($500 billion) to medicare spending. The Republican bill did not.

The Democrat bill raises taxes by $752.6 billion. The Republican bill did not raise taxes.

The Democrat bill would cover undocumented immigrants. The Republican bill did not.

Local State Rep Supports Mandatory Vaccines, New Government Powers

Democrat Representative to Pennsylvania’s General Assembly for its 112th Legislative District Ken Smith is the Prime Sponsor of a bill, HB 492 (Emergency Health Powers Act,) that will force Pennsylvania’s residents to be vaccinated and submit to testing and “sampling” against diseases or face harsh criminal penalties.

The bill also requires that healthcare providers and pharmacists report a medical condition deemed epidemic, pandemic, or infectious and any unusual upticks in prescriptions.

Should you be one of the folks deemed to necessary to be informed on by the doctors or pharmacist, your healthcare provider or pharmacist must supply your name, address, date of birth, sex, race, municipality and county to the authorities.

The bill also gives the Commonwealth the ability to seize and ration healthcare products.

Under the “Control of Persons” section of the bill it grants the healthcare authorities the ability to invoke forced medical examinations and forced medical testing, (rights to judicial and quasi-judicial remedies are directly removed.) The bill also allows the healthcare authority to collect specimens from any person, animal or thing without permission and without a court order.

Failure to comply with the bill is a misdemeanor of the third degree and allows the government to quarantine the individual with or without a hearing depending on how severe the government views the risk.
