Confused on Single Payer?

There is a lot of confusion surrounding the single-payer “option” in the Healthcare debate. This confusion is exacerbated by statements such as this:

The reason you could be confused is that President Obama said "I have not said that I was a single-payer supporter, because, frankly, we historically have had a employer-based system in this country, with private insurers, and for us to transition to a system like that, I believe would be too disruptive."

I am sorry to say but this is a blatant lie on the part of the President. He has advocated for a single payer system as the video demonstrates.

You can see both videos back to back here:

The President should be honest with the American people and strive for an honest and open debate on the issue of healthcare. Healthcare reform is too important for political double speak and obfuscation. If he has changed his mind since his 2003 statement to the AFL-CIO, he should acknowledge that, not cover it up. In this case, the cover up is worse than the crime.
